With over 220,000 downloadable applications for the iPhone 3GS already available and set to increase even more now that the iPhone 4 has been released, it can be tricky to choose the best ones to download for yourself.

I don't think this one needs much introduction as I'm sure you have already heard of it. This app is great because it allows you to keep in contact with your friends and family whilst on the move. And even better, its free!

Last.fm

Now you can stream music straight to your iPhone or iPod touch. This is great as you can have all the music you can listen to in your pocket for free. So thats well over 7 million tracks wherever, whenever. Perfect.

thetrainline

If you travel regularly you probably know about thetrainline. This app is like carrying around a ticket machine in your pocket. Being able to buy discount tickets out and about is a must for travellers and students.
